Created in 1967, UCP - the Portuguese Catholic University - has is renowned in Portugal for its high quality teaching and demanding training programs, prestige and research of its professors, and the many professionals, government officials, and executives who graduated from UCP and went on to achieve success both in Portugal and internationally. Divided into 18 faculties, UCP has four regional centers (Lisbon, Oporto, Braga, and Beiras). UCP has around 11,300 students and 1,000 lecturers, in 45 degree courses, as well as in over 40 post-graduate and masters courses

Within UCP, the Technological Change and Entrepreneurship program is led by FCEE-Católica, the leading Portuguese Business school. FCEE- Católica offers several innovative Master’s programs, including: MBACatólica, Master in Healthcare Management, Master in Economics, and Master in Finance. The undergraduate program in Business Administration was the first of its kind in Portugal, and has been consistently ranked (by business magazine Fortuna) as the top program of its kind in Portugal. FCEE-Católica provides a vibrant research environment, with a clear commitment to the creation and dissemination of knowledge through rigorous research, published in top tier, international journals. The core research faculty of FCEE consists of around 30 professors, with doctorates from some of the top institutions in the world, including MIT, NYU, UCLA, Chicago, Columbia, Michigan, etc.. The school was recently recognized (by the European Economic Association) as the leading Portuguese institution in terms of publications per faculty member. There are numerous joint research projects among members and an active research seminar series.

ESB – the School of Biotechnology at UCP - is also a participant in the PhD program. The school has graduate courses and research programs for PhD students in Biotechnology, developed within national and international networks. ESB has promoted significant research activities in the food and environmental areas, as well as in the applied sciences and technologies
