Summary, RTP2 Features Aveiro’s Joint Graduate Programs with Carnegie Mellon:

Professor Aguiar discusses distance-education methods used in Aveiro’s graduate programs, highlighting the multiple information delivery methods. He reviews aspects of the programs pedagogy and students’ high levels of engagement in the program, as well as the high requirements for acceptance into the program.

Professor Carvalho discusses internationalization aspects and the facilities’ rich technological environment including real-time video conferencing, and also adaptation of more American-style lecture styles in the program. Carvalho also provides a brief overview of the dual degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Graduate students Ferreira and Caetano reflect on acclimating to the different style of lecturing from American professors, noting the higher levels of interaction between professors and students, and students’ needs to be highly dedicated.
