Welcome to ICTI: Information and Communication Technologies Institute

Welcome to the Information and Communication Technologies Institute (ICTI), a joint international partnership between the Government of Portugal through its Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, and Carnegie Mellon in the area of information and communication technologies. This international partnership includes an emphasis on information processing and networking, including applications to critical infrastructures and risk assessment, as well as complementary areas of applied mathematics, technology, innovation and policy.

We invite prospective students, faculty, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, government officials and the public in general, to find out more about our professional masters programs and our doctoral programs. Deadlines and dates:

Under the framework of the CMU-Portugal program, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon, Portugal) is hiring Assistant Professors. These faculty may lecture both in the PhD or the undergraduate programs of the department, and will be integrated in the teams involved in the research initiatives of the CMU-Portugal program. Deadline for application is May 13th 2008 to start in September 2008. Check http://cmuportugal-ece.ist.utl.pt/jobs for details.

Application deadlines depend on the program. Please visit the web page of the program of interest to check the appropriate deadline. Applications that are not complete (e.g., missing GREs or Toefl) will still be evaluated, with decisions pending or conditional on submission of all required materials.

Scolarships available for MSE students: The Master of Software Engineering Program, offered jointly by Carnegie Mellon and the University of Coimbra, is an advanced program explicitly designed to instruct the future leaders of industrial software engineering practice. Eight Portuguese companies are offering full scholarships, covering both tuition and living costs during the 16 months, with full-time job offers to graduates. The companies involved are: Novabase, Portugal Telecom, Critical-Software, EDISOFT, Enabler, Wit-Software, ISA, and Telbit. Although these corporations are all in Portugal, fluency in Portuguese is not required. Read more.
